Plant Playlist: Viola Heartbeats

Weird and utterly endearing. Looks adorable but can bite. You think it’s totally cute and innocuous but then it starts judging you for being an ugly flower person and maybe even a noxious weed that needs to get kicked out of the bed (Alice in Wonderland).

Sometimes life is good to me and there’s a lucky moment where the song that I’m playing is a perfect expression of the plants I’m tending to. Viola, meet The Knife – Heartbeats.

It’s a song one of my childhood best friends introduced to me in the 2005 era. It expresses to me a social dysphoria that can be appreciated and enjoyed. A kind of strange you might like to be around.

One night to be confused
One night to speed up truth
We had a promise made
Four hands and then away

Both under influence
We had divine scent
To know what to say
Mind is a razor blade

To call for hands of above
To lean on
Wouldn’t be good enough
For me, no

One night of magic rush
The start a simple touch
One night to push and scream
And then relief

Ten days of perfect tunes
The colors red and blue
We had a promise made
We were in love

To call for hands of above
To lean on
Wouldn’t be good enough
For me, no

To call for hands of above
To lean on
Wouldn’t be good enough

And you, you knew the hands of the devil
And you, kept us awake with wolf teeth
Sharing different heartbeats
In one night

To call for hands of above
To lean on
Wouldn’t be good enough
For me, no

To call for hands of above
To lean on
Wouldn’t be good enough
For me, no
